Our Story

It all started at the Foreign Language Student Residence (FLSR) at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo. Kevin remembers first meeting Talyn at the stairwell outside of his apartment, where they and a friend briefly chatted. They quickly became good friends and they often visited each other's apartments which were conveniently close.

Their first three dates were spaced apart by a month apiece. The first, on Feb. 13, was a double date with a couple friends to Salt Lake City. Despite a slight incident on a stormy freeway (don't worry, nothing and no one was hurt), they had a great dinner at a run-down Chinese restaurant that featured some rare dishes and they attended an entertaining women's choir concert at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. One could say that their first date consisted of fish tails and frog legs.

Due to a series of events during the April General Conference, they soon after started dating. They switched language houses for the summer, and it was a period during which Talyn and Kevin could spend a lot of time together and get to know each other even more. Their relationship flourished slowly but surely, and they started to spend more and more time together. The topic of marriage soon emerged; ring shopping then became a fun weekend activity. Living a mere 5 hours apart, Kevin went to visit the Reasor family in Grand Rapids, Minnesota over the Christmas break. It was at Sylvan Bay, a couple blocks from their home, that Kevin asked for Talyn's hand in marriage (and the rest of her too).

Because of Kevin's international status, the wedding could not take place until after Talyn completed her student teaching in the beautiful land of Fiji. Talyn was a student teacher at the LDS Primary School where she taught 1st grade. Kevin capitalized on this opportunity and visited Talyn for a week. During the four months of separation, Talyn & Kevin got to know each other at a deeper level through emails and the occasional phone call.

Seven and a half months after getting engaged, Talyn & Kevin were married in the St. Paul Minnesota Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 11, 2005.
